My club: Genesis

Edel Hallissey is manager of the Irish under-16 hockey team and Leinster under-18 team as well as head hockey coach at Notre Dame secondary school in Churchtown, Dublin. She is in her second season of playing with Genesis.

Genesis was founded at the start of the 1976 season and is currently based at the UCD hockey facility in Belfield. The club puts a big emphasis on providing teams in the full range of age groups and also creating an enjoyable social side to the sport.

Membership: We currently field six adult teams in the various sections of league competitions including veterans. There is also a very strong junior section with teams from under-14 up to under 18. Overall that brings the numbers to about 180.

Status: The women's first team are playing in the senior division one of the league and we also have teams representing the club right through the league down to minor level.

Honours: Our main achievement has been staying in the senior A division and competing against the top teams in the league, so I suppose that means we've left the honours to our competitors for the time being.

Finest Hour: The under-16 team compete every year at an international tournament in Holland and this year finished runners-up after beating the highly fancied American team but for me it was joining the club two years ago that stands out.

Worst Moment: No particular moment comes to mind but any game where you miss an open goal or score an own-goal could be regarded as such.

Club Hero: Grainne Friel, who retired from our firsts last year and is the Leinster under-21 coach as well as our seconds' coach, does great organisational work as does Hillary Thompson who always seems to be doing something in all areas of the club.

Greatest Rivals: Nobody really here either because the attitude of the club is that everybody will look after each other at whatever level and so the rival aspect of the players never comes to the fore.
