Moyles is Meath's new man in the middle

There is a highly familiar look to the Meath team that faces neighbours Westmeath in the Leinster football quarter-final at Croke Park on Sunday. Twelve of the team that won the All-Ireland two years ago make the starting line-up and manager Sean Boylan has decided not to gamble on any debutants.

The entire defence, one through seven, beat Cork in the final of 1999, although there is an entirely new midfield with John McDermott now retired. Nigel Nester, over his injury worry, gets one spot. Anthony Moyles, who played at centre back in last year's shock loss to Offaly, gets the other.

Trevor Giles is at centre forward, flanked by Evan Kelly and Richie Kealy, while Grahan Geraghty is back at full forward, having missed last year's game through suspension. Ollie Murphy and Paul Shankey complete the attack. Along with McDermott, also missing from the 1999 winning team is Donal Curtis and Nigel Crawford - making way for Moyles, Kealy and Shankey.

Roscommon manager John Tobin has made a minimum of three changes in personnel in the team to face Galway compared to that which beat New York last month. Out through suspension is goalkeeper Shane Curran and Derek Thompson is back between the posts.

Stephen Lohan was also ruled out through injury and his place at full forward goes to his brother Gerry. A vacancy has been left at wing forward, with Conor Connelly, Gary Cox and Eddie Lohan all in the running.

The other definite change is at midfield, where Seamus O'Neill gets a start in place of Peter Mahon.

There is also a vacancy at corner back in the hope that Ian Daly that can prove his fitness - that would be a fourth change if he starts.
