It's hard for the best of us to keep up with the rapid changes throughout the sporting world, whether they are political, financial, commercial or scientific. But on Monday, the Centre for Sports Studies in UCD will address some of the main issues in a special seminar titled "Sport in the New Millennium".

Included in the day-long agenda are presentations on doping control, sports violence and criminal law, and sport and society in a divided Ireland. Also assessed will be football hooliganism as a world problem and the issues facing the globalisation of sport.

Five different lecturers will make the presentations and there will also be an open-floor discussion chaired by Stephen Mennell of UCD's Sociology Department. The Centre for Sports Studies in UCD is the main co-ordinator for sports-related research within the college.

The seminar, which begins at 9 a.m. has no fee and further information can be had from Karen Hennessy at (01) 7068712 or e-mail: karen.hennessy@ucd.ie.
