News: Harry McCue has become the first chairman of the newly-formed Football Managers' Association of Ireland, an organisation that has been formed to provide advice and representation for managers involved in the senior game.

At the association's first meeting John Gill was elected secretary and Alan Matthews treasurer. Jimmy McGeough and Don O'Riordan will serve as committee members.

"The response to the idea has been very strong," said McCue yesterday. "People see something like this as a potentially valuable way of getting information and putting across our point of view. We hope to meet with the league during the next few weeks to discuss the fixtures for next season and would see the association providing things like information on the changing regulations that affect the job as well as standard contracts for all managers."

The National League elected the following to the new FAI committees: Finance: Declan O'Luanigh (league treasurer) and Gerry Cuffe (Bohemians); International: Eddie Murray (Monaghan Utd) and Ray Gallagher (Sligo Rovers); Development: Jackie McAuley (Derry City) and Donald Keogh (Longford Town); Underage: Jim Murphy (Cork City); Domestic: Paddy McCaul (Athlone Town), Alan Duncan (Shamrock Rovers) and Paddy Martin (Drogheda Utd); Legal and Corporate: Brendan Dillon (league chairman) and Carole Rhattigan (Kilkenny City).
