Gaelic Games:The Leinster council are facing an urgent disciplinary investigation arising from Sunday's provincial quarter-final replay between Moorefield and Dromard in Newbridge - a game marred by an all-in melee close to the end, but which resulted in not a single booking.

Moorefield, the reigning Kildare and Leinster champions, are due out again in Newbridge this Sunday in the Leinster semi-final against Tyrrellspass of Westmeath.

However, the Leinster council are due to receive the referee's report from Sunday's game later today, and have already scheduled a meeting for tomorrow evening to deal with any further disciplinary action.

It means Moorefield face an anxious wait before finding out if any players face suspension ahead of their next game. Sunday was in fact the second replay between the sides, and while the previous two games went off without any controversy, there were no excuses for the melee that broke out in the third game, which ended in a 0-13 to 0-7 defeat for the Longford champions.

The problem started with a relatively minor incident that saw three players booked by All-Ireland referee David Coldrick, but soon afterwards an off-the-ball incident resulted in a widespread punch-up, which soon drew in the team substitutes and other match officials.

Video evidence is almost certain to be used to highlight the seriousness of the incident.

Dublin champions St Vincent's await the winners of the Moorefield-Tyrrellspass game on Sunday week, although Moorefield were considering a request to have that game postponed a week, should they make it, given their hectic schedule of late. For now, however, their minds are on other matters.

Meanwhile, the GAA have announced details of this weekend's All Star tour to New York, confirming Kilkenny's Brian Cody and his Limerick counterpart Richie Bennis as managers for next Saturday's exhibition game at Gaelic Park, involving a 2007 All Star selection against a 2006 selection.

Amongst those players selected as a replacement is the talented Laois star James Young who was nominated in both years for an All Stars award.

Finally, it could be another two weeks before there's any breakthrough in the stand-off in Cork between the players and county board regarding the appointment of county selectors. The Cork senior football panel met with new manager Teddy Holland on Friday, but revealed afterwards that there'll be no further developments for at least two weeks until a full meeting takes place between both the hurling and football squads.
