Weekend Hockey:The third round of the Irish Senior Cup on Saturday produced its usual blend of upsets and drubbings, with Ulster league leaders Banbridge going out to bottom club Kilkeel, while Cookstown, Pembroke Wanderers and Instonians scored 34 goals between them - Cookstown's share of that total was 17, their tally against Cliftonville.

Two years ago Kilkeel knocked Banbridge out of the cup at the quarter-final stage but having yet to take a point from a league game this season their hopes of repeating that feat appeared to be slim.

Goals from William Annett, Craig Cunningham and Brian Niblock, though, gave them a 3-1 win, the upset of the round.

Trinity got the better of their first division opponents Kilkenny in a 4-3 victory and they are joined in the fourth round by fellow second division side PSBPP who beat Catholic Institute 3-1. Glenanne needed a late winner from Stephen Butler to overcome Corinthians 2-1, but Three Rock Rovers had a more comfortable afternoon, beating UCD 5-0.

Fingal, Bray, Monkstown and YMCA also made it through to the last 16, bringing to nine the number of representatives Leinster have in the round.

There were mixed fortunes for Munster's top two against Ulster opposition, Cork Harlequins beating Bangor by a single goal, a short corner strike from John Hobbs, while Church of Ireland went down to a 3-1 defeat in the tie of the round against Lisnagarvey, Timmy Cockram scoring twice for the hosts. Bandon, though, are through after beating Antrim 3-2.

The pick of the fourth round is the pairing of Glenanne and Annadale, with Fingal hosting Lisnagarvey and Bandon on their travels north again, Instonians the opposition this time.
