Three of the teenagers who helped Ireland lift the European Boys' Championship last month have been selected on the British and Irish team that will attempt to regain the Jacques Leglise Trophy from the continent of Europe at Villa d'Este, Italy on August 28th-29th.

David Jones, of City of Derry, will captain the nine-strong team which also includes Justin Kehoe, from Birr, who is a scholarship student at UCD, the leading individual in the strokeplay qualifiers at Gullane, and Shandon Park's Robin Symes. Jones made his debut in the match last year when Britain and Ireland lost by 12 1/2 - 11 1/2 to the continentals.

It is the first time that Ireland will provide three players to the team, a reflection of the current strength of junior golf in this country. Eight of the players were named last evening and the ninth will be selected at the conclusion of this week's British Boys' championship in Ladybank. The unprecedented strong Irish representation was based on victory at the European Boys championship and the triple crown success at last year's Home Internationals.
