After a 5-0 defeat by England in Telford last night the Republic of Ireland's hopes of reaching next year's under-18 European Championship finals now depend on an unlikely set of results in tomorrow's final Group Three fixtures.

The Irish women must beat Holland and hope England take no more than a point from their game against the Faroe Islands if they are to finish top of their group and take one of the eight qualifying places for the finals.

Ireland battled bravely in last night's match against a more experienced side and only went in a goal down at half-time. Once Daniella Murphy made it 2-0 shortly after the break, England took control of the game.
