NUI Maynooth yesterday announced the recipients of 18 scholarships in recognition of their achievements in Gaelic Games

NUI Maynooth yesterday announced the recipients of 18 scholarships in recognition of their achievements in Gaelic Games. This is the third year Maynooth have offered the scholarships, in association with MBNA Bank.

Representing 12 different counties, the recipients come from football, hurling, camogie and women's football and include a number of inter-county senior and under-21 players.

Dr W J Smyth, president of NUI Maynooth, stressed the importance of such awards in rewarding students on their achievements and also in terms of the practical support they give students to continue with their sporting commitments while still focusing on their education.
