HOCKEY:Frozen pitches should not be a problem this weekend as the focus turns to the National Indoor Trophy, with Queen's, Gormanstown, Loughlinstown and NUIG hosting regional qualifiers. Defending champions Ards open the Ulster qualifier against North Down tomorrow, Lurgan, Portadown, Queen's and Ulster Elks completing the group, while Hermes, Old Alexandra, Pembroke Wanderers, Trinity, Avoca and Clontarf will be in action in Gormanstown.

Corinthian, Genesis and Glenanne will contest another Leinster group in Loughlinstown, with Galway and Greenfields competing in the Connacht qualifier. The finals of the competition will take place on January 12th and 13th.
