There was another star to add to the constellation assembled for the JP McManus Invitational Pro-Am on July 4th-5th at the Adare Manor Hotel and Golf Resort with the confirmation that Ernie Els has agreed to play.

This news comes just one week after Davis Love also guaranteed his attendance at the event.

Els, ranked ninth in the world, won the Volvo Order of Merit in 2004 for a second successive season as well as winning the Heineken Classic and the HSBC World Matchplay titles for a third successive season - making him the first player to win the latter tournament six times.

The South African also won the American Express World Golf Championship plus two events on the US PGA Tour and challenged for all four Major Championship titles.

He has previously won two US Open titles (1994 and 1997).

JP McManus said: "We are thrilled that a player of such high calibre has agreed to give up his time to play in the pro am.

"Given his world ranking of nine, he is a great addition to the event and I'm sure he will attract great crowds to Adare in July."

This year, spectators can gain entry to the pro-am by displaying a branded baseball cap costing €50 for two days and €25 for one day.

The entrance "caps" can be purchased through the dedicated "capline" on 061 487022 or through the website on www.jpmcmanusgolf.com.
