Manager John Tobin has handed Gary Cox the first championship start of his career for Saturday's All-Ireland quarter-final against Galway. The introduction of the St Faithleach's player at wing forward is the sole change from the team that beat Mayo in the Connacht final.

Stephen Lohan was ruled out of the starting line-up as he continues to suffer the effects of a shoulder injury, but defender John Whyte got over his ankle injury to take his place at full back.

Galway SF

A number of players are still carrying minor injuries from last weekend's county championship and manager John O'Mahony will view their fitness at their final training session this evening before deciding on his starting 15. The only player definitely ruled out through injury is Jarlath Fallon.

Meath SF

Meath will field the team which beat Dublin in the Leinster final for Sunday's quarter-final against Westmeath. One positional switch in the half-back line sees Hank Traynor and Nigel Nestor named in the places they actually filled against Dublin with Traynor on the right and Nestor at centre back.

Westmeath SF

Manager Luke Dempsey is satisfied that Dessie Dolan will play a role in Sunday's quarter-final against Meath despite the persistence of an ankle injury. Dempsey will announce his team later today and the influential forward is expected to be in the starting 15. "Even though he is in considerable pain, he is able to fight it and play through it," said Dempsey.

Derry SF

Eamonn Coleman has decided to take another couple of days before finalising his team for Sunday's game against Tyrone at Clones. The full panel came through training last night.

Tyrone SF

Doubts remain over the availability of midfielder Kevin Hughes.. Hughes crashed his car while returning from training on Monday night and although he wasn't seriously injured, the 21-year-old was suffering from minor shock.

Wexford SH

Defender Declan Ruth is facing a race against time to make Sunday week's All-Ireland hurling semi-final against Tipperary in Croke Park. Ruth took his place in last Sunday's victory over Limerick following a late fitness test on a damaged hamstring but then broke down during the second half forcing his retrial.

Wexford also have injury worries over defender Colm Kehoe, who missed the quarter-final because of injured shoulder ligaments and is making slow progress. There is better news regarding Wexford's other injury worries. Ryan Quigley and Darragh Ryan are expected to be fit.

Limerick Under-21 H

Four members of the Limerick team which lost to Wexford on Sunday will be searching for Munster championship glory tomorrow night when they line out for the under-21s against Tipperary at The Gaelic Grounds. They are goalkeeper Tim Houlihan, defenders Damian Reale and Brian Geary and half forward Sean O'Connor.

There are two changes from the side which beat Cork in the semi-finals with Brian Carroll and Willie Walsh coming in for Donal O'Grady and Pat Tob in.

Leitrim SF

Declan Rowley has been selected as the new senior football manager in Leitrim. The Longford man, who was the former trainer at the successful St Mel's College side, replaces Joe Reynolds, who stepped down after this year's championship.

Louth SF

The Louth county board has confirmed the nominations for the position of senior football team manager: Paddy Clarke, who is the current manager, Paddy Carr, Michael Heeney, Peter Fitzpatrick and Liam Austin. The subcommittee will be speaking to those nominated in the coming weeks and will report back to the County Committee with a recommendation.
