Cork to put their name in quarter-final hat

THESE TWO sides meet for the first time since the 2004 All-Ireland semi-final when Cork fairly hammered Wexford, then Leinster champions, by 1-27 to 0-12.

In fact Wexford’s last win over Cork was the 1956 All-Ireland final. So, can Wexford swing history back in their favour?

They haven’t exactly excited in their qualifiers to date, against Westmeath and Carlow, and Liam Dunne has been moved to recall Paul Roche and Stephen Banville.

Cork manager Jimmy Barry-Murphy has reshuffled his pack too: full-back Damien Cahalane, wing-back Eoin Cadogan and forwards Niall McCarthy and Luke O’Farrell given starting berths.

Providing there isn’t a major malfunction at the back, Cork should advance.
