Carlow take advantage of Belvedere slip

Carlow capitalised on a slip-up by leaders Old Belvedere to move top of the division two table

Carlow capitalised on a slip-up by leaders Old Belvedere to move top of the division two table. Their 20-15 win over Ballynahinch secured a two point lead for Carlow as Belvedere went down to UCD at Anglesea Road.

Two tries from Carlow along with some strong kicking from Matt Waterhouse ensured the home victory. Added to the bonus point they earned last week, the leaders current form continues to indicate serious intentions on a promotion place.

Despite Belvedere scoring three tries to two from UCD, the students came out on top thanks to Simon Moore landing five penalties and a conversion for a 27-22 final score line. The win for UCD also secures third place in the table.

With the City of Derry game against UCC postponed, Old Wesley failed to put light between themselves and Dolphin or Derry. Wesley remain perilously close to the bottom after a 13-19 defeat to Malone while Wanderers continued from last weekend with another win, this time against Greystones.
