Bonner hit by kidney injury

DONEGAL forward Declan Bonner has been admitted to St Vincents Hospital in Dublin arising from an injury he sustained in his side's National Football League quarter final win over Wicklow last Sunday.

Bonner became ill on the team bus returning from Croke Park on Sunday night and was detained in Cavan General Hospital before being transferred to St Vincent's on Tuesday for further tests. It is understood he sustained severe bruising to a kidney.

With Donegal due to meet Cork in the League semi final on April 21st, there is also some concern about the fitness of centre forward James McHugh, who suffered shoulder ligament damage in the same game.

Meanwhile, Antrim hurler Seamus McMullan has been told he could be out of the game for up to three months. McMullan, who dislocated his shoulder in Dunloy's All Ireland club defeat to Sixmilebridge on St Patrick's Day, said "My target is to be fit to play in the Ulster Final against Down on July 7th but even making that will be tight."

. Armagh will be without under 21 star Des Macken for their Dr McKenna Cup semi final match with Down at the Athletic Grounds on Sunday. Macken is ruled out with ankle ligament damage, while Derry have been forced to plan without injured duo Damien Barton and Tony Scullion for their McKenna Cup clash with Monaghan at Ballybay.

. Paul Delaney makes his comeback on the Tipperary hurling team when he lines out against Limerick in the Hennessey Cup final at Emly on Sunday. Delaney missed recent league games because of a rib injury.

His return is a timely boost for Tipperary prior to the semi finals of the National hurling league.
