US midterms: Can the key battleground of Pennsylvania hold back a red wave?

A celebrity heart surgeon and a tattooed, six-foot-eight lieutenant governor are the frontrunners in one of the key battleground states of the US midterm elections.

In two weeks time, Americans will go to the polls to decide who will control congress for the remainder of Joe Biden’s presidency.

Currently the Democrats hold the balance of power in the House of Representatives and the Senate.

While the Senate race is still too close to call, polls suggest the Republicans will be able to flip the House on November 8th.

Pennsylvania is one of six key states where the race for the Senate seat is particularly interesting.

Dr Mehmet Oz is hoping to usurp the bid of Democrat John Fetterman, who up until recently held the lead. A recent health setback has raised questions about his ability to fulfil the role, while Oz has come in for criticism for promoting unproven ‘miracle cures.’
