Cannabis plants worth €250,000 have been seized by gardaí during a house search in Carlow.

A house in Carlow town was searched yesterday evening by members of the Carlow drugs and detective units as part of a planned operation.

Gardaí said the plants, which were found upstairs in the house, were fully grown. Pending further technical analysis, an estimated street value of €250,000 has been placed on the find.

A woman in her mid 40s was arrested and is currently detained at Carlow Garda station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
