Gardaí investigating the murder of a pensioner in Dublin early on Saturday were last night questioning a 21-year-old woman about his killing.
A man arrested in connection with the killing has been released from Garda custody and has already been charged with an offence.
The dead man is a 66-year-old taxi driver. His son, who is in his mid-40s and lives at Wellview Grove, Blanchardstown, was involved in a row with people from the area in the early hours of Saturday. The man's father then arrived at the house and the row began again just before 2am. Gardaí believe one of the group drove a car at the 66-year-old, hitting him in the driveway of his son's house.
He was taken to nearby Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown, where he was pronounced dead.
The scene was sealed off and underwent a technical examination. The vehicle involved in the incident was being examined by gardaí last night.
The State Pathologist's office was informed and a full postmortem was carried out. The dead man's son was also injured during the incident and underwent medical treatment. Gardaí said his injuries are not life threatening.
A 27-year-old man was arrested at the scene and was taken for questioning to Blanchardstown Garda station.
He has since been charged with an offence under the Non Fatal Offences Against the Person Act and has been released on bail. He will appear before Dublin District Court on February 19th next.
