Families looking to stretch their legs can get a walk in by visiting Roisín and Tadhg’s new baby girl Cuileann – she’s a giraffe and the latest addition to Fota Wildlife Park in Cork. The mum carried her for 15 months before giving birth standing up the week before Christmas. See them this weekend at the park where last entry is at 3.30pm.

Shannon-siders fancying a flutter can catch the last day of the Guinness Christmas Racing Festival at Limerick today. Beat the gales with a ticket to the Christmas Village marquee where viewing, betting and bar areas, a hot whiskey and a hog roast roll are included in the €30 ticket. The first race is at 12.35pm.

East-coast racegoers will be chomping at the bit for the Istabraq Festive Hurdle at Leopardstown. Today’s race at 2pm is one to watch.

In rubgy, Leinster will host Connacht in the last of the festive interprovincial matches at the RDS today. Connacht haven’t won in Dublin since 2002. Can they do it tonight? Kick off is at 7.45pm.
