The hot snap otherwise known as 'exam weather' is likely to continue through the weekend and into early next week, but there will be some showers on Saturday, according to Met Éireann.
As Leaving Cert students sweat it out over English One and Two the rest of us can expect discomfort of our own with temperatures in some areas forecast to reach a high of 27 degrees Celsius tomorrow.
The midlands have experienced the highest temperatures overall, with Kilkenny reaching 25.4 Celsius yesterday and Birr not far behind on 25 Celsius.
Coastal areas benefiting from a sea breeze have been cooler on the whole.
South-east and easterly winds are expected to pick up a little on Friday but it is not expected to affect the temperature too much, with 20 degrees plus still forecast.
The weekend will see some rain, especially on Saturday, due to a drop in pressure from the west. The south-west will be first to experience it on Friday night and it is expected to get little heavier as it progresses across the country to the north-east.
Most places therefore can plan for some showers and a small drop in temperature, but this will be tempered by warm, humid conditions across the country.
Sunday still holds the "potential" for some showers but temperatures will rise slightly without breaking records.
Met Éireann has warned people however, not to get too excited by the current climate, considering that it is only last week that winds were in a different direction, resulting in some reports of frost from around the country.
