Large parts of Dublin city and county are continuing to endure water shortages two weeks since the end of severe weather conditions.

All four Dublin local authorities warned that householders will continue to experience cuts to water supplies as work to fix leaking and burst pipes continues.

Dublin City Council said “severe restrictions” will be in place tonight in parts of Kimmage, Crumlin, Drimnagh, Irishtown, Ballsbridge, Sandymount, South Circular Road, Finglas, Poppintree, Oakwood, Jamestown Road and the North Quays.

Areas experiencing shortages included parts of Killester, Harold’s Cross and an area around Clonshaugh Road.

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council said all parts of the county remain subject to water pressure reductions and many areas could be without water tomorrow due to critically low water levels in the Church Road, Sandyford and Stillorgan reservoirs.

A water tanker will be available at Cuala, Hyde Park Road, Dalkey from noon to 2pm tomorrow.

Fingal County Council said it is reducing water pressure every night to allow its reservoirs to refill. The Meakstown area was particularly badly affected because of critically low water levels in the Sillogue Reservoir. Homes on high ground and those in rural areas may have low pressure tomorrow morning once water supply returns following night time restrictions, the council said.

South Dublin County Council said it will be making repairs as soon as possible to services pipes in parts of Whitechurch, Rathfarnham, Ballyboden, Clondalkin and Palmerstown.
