October was the warmest from more than 30 years according the Met Éireann. The Indian summer has seen average temperatures across the country of between 12C and 13C.

A spokesman for Met Éireann said these temperatures "were close to the normal means for September."

Mean air temperatures for the month were around two degrees higher than normal. Rosslare had its warmest October since records began in 1956, while at a number of other stations around the country it was the warmest October since 1969.

The warmest temperature of the month was 20.7C, recorded at Shannon Airport, on October 11th. While Rosslare recorded the highest mean monthly temperature at 13.6C.
