A US medical devices company is to set up a new office in Athlone that will bring 150 customer support jobs to the region.

A US medical devices company is to set up a new office in Athlone that will bring 150 customer support jobs to the region.

The Minister for Enterprise Trade and Employment Micheál Martin is expected to confirm the IDA-supported development by Teleflex Medical at the IDA Business Park in Athlone at 3.30pm.

Teleflex already employs 135 people in Limerick.

The midlands region has suffered from recent job losses. In May, Athlone-based Conor Medsystems cut 165 staff and 100 ICT Eurotel staff were given extended unpaid leave.
