US electronics company Contex has acquired Northern Ireland's HTA Industries in a £5 million sterling deal creating 84 new jobs.
HTA Industries already employs 103 people at their plant in Antrim. Contex is a subsidiary of the Florida-based Transpo Electronics Incorporation.
Northern Ireland's Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Investment, Sir Reg Empey, said: "This is an important strategic investment for Transpo, a leading manufacturer of electronic automotive components, and also for Northern Ireland's growing electronics sector."
"The decision by such a successful and ambitious US company to locate a manufacturing operation in Northern Ireland to supply high quality components to both its existing and projected US business is a substantial boost for Antrim and the wider economy," he added.
Contex manufactures silicon wafers which produce silicon die and diodes for electrical components used by the automotive industry.
