Two win €1m in Lotto millionaire raffle

TWO NEW millionaires were created in counties Kerry and Tipperary yesterday as the first ever Millionaire Raffle draw took place.

The game was launched by the National Lottery at the end of May and was limited to just 300,000 tickets at a cost of €20 each. This gave entrants a 150,000-to-one chance of winning €1 million.

The winning tickets were sold at the post office in Ardfert, Tralee, Co Kerry, and at the Book Centre on O’Connell Street, Clonmel, Co Tipperary.

All draw tickets were sold out by August 6th, almost three weeks in advance of the deadline.

“We are delighted that the first Millionaire Raffle game has been a huge success. Our congratulations go to Ireland’s newest millionaires and all of the 532 winners in this game,” said Dermot Griffin, chief executive of the National Lottery.

While the company said it may look at running a similar draw again, it has no plans for another raffle at the moment.

The holders of five tickets sold in Enniscorthy, Co Wexford, Cork city, Dublin 1 and Dublin 5, and Limerick city have won €100,000 each.

A total of 532 tickets were drawn for prizes worth between €1 million and €500.
