Two men survive small aircraft crash uninjured

Two men survived uninjured when a two-seater aircraft they were travelling in crash landed in Co Wicklow yesterday.

Two men survived uninjured when a two-seater aircraft they were travelling in crash landed in Co Wicklow yesterday.

The crash involving a Cessna 152 light aircraft occurred at Newcastle Airfield between 7pm and 7.30pm.

The aircraft had been on a local flight in the area when the incident happened. It experienced power loss as it approached the runway and was “significantly damaged”, the Department of Transport said in a statement.

Two men were on board but survived without injuries, a Garda spokesman said.

Officials from the Air Accident Investigation Unit from the Department of Transport were at the scene of the crash last night. The officials were recovering the aircraft to a local hanger near the airfield,

The private airfield in Newcastle has a 690m grass runway.
