A man and a woman were arrested this morning as part of a Criminal Assists Bureau investigation into organised crime in the Limerick area.

Cab profilers and local gardaí searched two offices and two houses in Limerick as well as two houses in Ennis, Co Clare.

A handgun was recovered by gardaí during one of the searches and documentation was seized.

The man in his late 30s and woman in her 20s were arrested at 8am this morning and are being held at Ennis Garda station.

The searches were part of the Garda's Operation Platinum, which aims to tackle organised crime in the Limerick area.

In May, about 150 premises were searched as part of the operation involving over 250 gardaí. Drugs worth €200,000 and over €100,000 in cash were seized during those raids.
