Tributes have been paid to Fermanagh GAA football player Brian Óg Maguire, who died after a workplace incident at a Quinn Group concrete plant in Derrylin in the county yesterday morning.

First aid was administered at the scene to Mr Maguire (24), from Lisnaskea, but he died on his way to hospital. The company said it was “extremely shocked”. It added that an investigation into the incident was under way. Mr Maguire was part of the Fermanagh senior Gaelic football team and played for his club Lisnaskea Emmetts. Fermanagh GAA was “shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden death of our county senior player and teammate”.

Fermanagh player Barry Owens described him as “a gentleman” whose leadership was “second to none”.

Ulster Council GAA president Aogán Ó Fearghail said he was a “committed Gael”.
