GARDAÍ ARE trying to established if an improvised gun was used in a shooting near the Garda Training College, Templemore, Co Tipperary, in which a teenager was wounded.

The incident occurred on Patrick St in the town in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The victim, an 18-year-old who lives locally but whose family is originally from Dublin, is believed to have been cycling a pushbike when he was shot and wounded in the abdomen at 1am.

He was taken to South Tipperary General Hospital in Clonmel where his injuries are described as not life threatening.
