The Irish Farmers Association and the Irish Sugar Company have agreed a €2.70 per tonne price increase for sugar beet.
This brings the base price back up to €48 per tonne with growers receiving all back payments due in their next cheque from Irish Sugar.
The IFA said today the final beet price will be reviewed in light of total sugar production with any additional money paid on all contract beet at the end of March or early April.
In a dispute over payments for sugar beet, the State's estimated 3,740 beet growers suspended beet deliveries to two ISC plants in Mallow, Co Cork and Carlow town from November 7th 2001. Deliveries resumed in mid-December.
The Association added that the season was coming to a close with the Mallow plant ceasing production on January 17th and the Carlow factory due to follow suit after February 2nd.
