A feud between two families is one line of inquiry detectives are following after two related shooting incidents in Dublin and a later "criminal damage" incident.

A 41-year-old man was seriously injured in the first shooting incident in Coolock, north Dublin, on Saturday morning. In that shooting, three men pulled up in a car at a yard at St Dominic's Park estate at Belcamp Lane, Coolock, shortly before 9 a.m. The man, who was outside his home at the time, was hit in the arm and side by a shotgun fired by one of the men.

The injured man was brought to Beaumont hospital where his condition was described as stable. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Immediately after the first incident, the three assailants drove at speed further along Belcamp Lane and pulled up around the corner. A number of shots were fired at a mobile home.The caravan was damaged but nobody was injured.

Two hours later, at about 11 a.m., a number of mobile home windows were smashed at a halting site at Forest Road, known as Forest Little, in Swords.

Gardaí in Swords are investigating the damage at Forest Road, while detectives in Coolock are understood to have identified at least one of the three assailants in the shooting incidents at Belcamp. They are expected to make an arrest shortly.
