Musician Prince is being sued by the lawyers who represented him during his case against MCD over the cancellation of a concert at Croke Park nearly three years ago.
The musician's former lawyers say he owes them more than $700,000, according to court documents filed in the US..
The firm, Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler, said in documents filed in Manhattan Supreme Court yesterday that Prince -- whose real name is Prince Rogers Nelson -- paid only $125,000 for their legal services during Prince's divorce and three other court cases in Dublin, California and New York.
"The Nelson Parties have failed to pay an additional $708,687.04 due to PBWT," court documents said. "PBWT has repeatedly but unsuccessfully requested payment from the Nelson Parties."
The 52-year-old singer who is best known for hits such as When Doves Cry and 1999 was due to perform at Croke Park in June 2008 but cancelled the show just 13 days before hand without an explanation. More than 57,000 tickets had been sold for the event.
A €2.2 million judgment against Prince was awarded last year with MCD saying it intended to pursue the musician in the US courts.
Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler and Prince's Minnesota-based Paisley Park Studios were unavailable for comment.
