Poll shows Fine Gael losing Dublin South East seat

A survey on voter intentions in Dublin South East to be published tomorrow shows Fine Gael’s Ms Frances Fitzgerald losing her seat.

The poll also the Progressive Democrats’ ambitions for Mr Michael McDowell to be elected look unlikely to come to fruition.

The Labour Party leader, Mr Ruairí Quinn, holds 18 per cent of support and looks set to top the poll, according to the joint RTÉ/ Irish Independentpoll.

He is followed by Fianna Fáil candidates Mr Chris Andrews, in his first campaign, with nearly 17 per cent of the vote and junior minister for tourism and sport, Mr Eoin Ryan, who is placed fourth .

In third place, the Green Party candidate, Mr John Gormley TD, looks set to retain his place in Leinster House.

The biggest loser appears likely to be Ms Frances Fitzgerald, TD, the Fine Gael spokeswoman on equality, who trails in fifth place.

Mr Michael McDowell has a support of a mere nine per cent, which will be a blow to the PDs ambitions of winning a seat in the constituency.

He trails Sinn Féin’s Mr Daithi Doolan, with ten per cent of those polled expressing their intention of giving him their vote.
