Metro North and the Dart Underground are vital for the transport needs of the Greater Dublin Area, the National Transport Authority has told an Oireachtas committee.

The major rail projects in the authority’s transport strategy remained key to the provision of a sustainable transport system for the capital and surrounding counties, deputy chief executive of the authority Hugh Creegan said. However, he said it was not realistic to believe all projects in the strategy would be implemented in the short term.
