Disruption to rail services will continue today with no sign of a solution to the deadlock between Iarnrod Eireann and the Irish Locomotive Drivers' Association (ILDA). A spokesman for Iarnrod Eireann, Mr Myles McHugh, said the situation as the disruption moved towards a seventh week was "as deadlocked as ever".

He said Cork would have fewer than 40 per cent of its normal train services today, while about half the usual number would run in Waterford. No trains would travel the route to Westport beyond Athlone.

Two-thirds of suburban trains from Dublin will operate as normal, while 50 per cent of the Kildare/Dublin service will run.

Normal services to Galway, Sligo, Rosslare and Belfast will operate.
