Moore the merrier as weekend kicks off

Irish musical legend Christy Moore continues his run of sell-out gigs at the Grand Canal Theatre tonight and tomorrow, while British boyband JLS will be appearing at the Odyssey Area in Belfast and the O2 in Dublin over the coming days.

On the sporting front, there's Magners League action tonight when Leinster take on Ospreys at the RDS in Dublin at 7.35pm. Elsewhere, Munster will play Glasgow at Musgrave Park in Cork tomorrow with a 7.30pm kick-off.

Racing is on at Punchestown in Kildare tomorrow with the first race on at 12.15pm and the last race at 3.35pm. On Sunday, Leopardstown racecourse is holding a meet with the first race taking place at 12.10pm and the last one at 3.35pm.

Tommy Tiernan's Crooked Man  show continues at Vicar Street in Dublin while Des Bishop's My Dad was Nearly James Bond  show is on at the Mermaid Arts Centre in Bray over the next two nights. Karl Spain is in the improv show Text in the City  tomorrow evening at the Laughter Lounge.

On the pantomime front there's Aladdin  at the Gaiety, Beauty and the Beast  at the Tivoli and Cinderella  at the Olympia all in Dublin, while Cork Opera House plays host to Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and the Everyman Palace Theatre, also in Cork, has Sinbad and the Sea Pirates.

Met Éireann predicts that the band of rain and snow which is expected to hit Ireland today will clear away eastwards this evening but warns of a severe frost and sub-zero temperatures.

Tomorrow will be a cold, blustery day with a mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers, some wintry. Maximum temperatures are expected to range from 1 to 7 degrees. As skies clear and winds ease it will turn very cold and frosty with air temperatures below zero away from Atlantic coasts and as low as - 4 or -5 degrees in many places with a severe ground frost and icy patches likely in the evening and into Sunday morning.

Sunday will be a cold, bright day with sunny spells and dry apart from isolated wintry showers. Temperatures will be between 2 to 6 degrees generally and up to 8 degrees along Atlantic coasts.
