Iron Maiden and Heaven and Hell, two of the biggest hard rock bands in history, have been confirmed to play a concert at the O2 in Dublin on July 30th.

It will be the first date of Iron Maiden’s "Final Frontier" tour to promote the album of the same name which many fans believe will be their last.

Iron Maiden, who sold out the RDS in 2005, headline the Sonisphere music festival in Knebworth on August 1st.

The Heaven and Hell line-up of two of the original members of Black Sabbath Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler along with singer Ronnie James Dio and drummer Vince Appice is the same that toured and recorded as Black Sabbath in the early 1980s.

However, they have decided not to call themselves Black Sabbath to avoid confusion with the original line-up which involved singer Ozzy Osbourne and drummer Bill Ward.

The addition of Heaven and Hell as support is something of a surprise as they are usually headliners.

Dio (67) has been receiving treatment for stomach cancer and went through his 7th chemotherapy session last month, but he has expressed a commitment to tour this summer.

Tickets priced at between €59.80 and €65.70 go on sale next Wednesday to priority ticket holders and then on Friday week to the general public.
