Up to 75 people have been in touch with the Department of Foreign Affairs in Dublin and the Irish Embassy in New Delhi concerned about relatives who may have been caught up in the Mumbai attacks.
The Department of Foreign Affairs is currently advising against all but essential travel to Mumbai.
Yesterday, diplomatic staff from the embassy in New Delhi set up a crisis centre for Irish citizens at the honorary consulate in Mumbai.

The Irish Timesthat it did not have exact figures on how many citizens might be in Mumbai at present but said the department was monitoring the situation.
At least 12 foreigners, including three Germans, two Americans, one Australian, a Briton, a Canadian, two French, an Italian and a Japanese national were among the 143 dead.
An Offaly woman, Geraldine Larkin, a textile designer based in London and originally from Edenderry. was among those staying at the Taj Mahal hotel, one of the hotels targeted by militants. She was freed along with other foreign tourists when the army stormed the hotel.
The little-known Deccan Mujahideen has claimed responsibility for the spate of attacks in the city.
