Multiple Sclerosis Ireland now has community workers in each health-board region. They provide personal support to those with MS and information to employers and other health professionals. Details of the roles of MS community workers, as well as those of other health professionals dealing with MS patients in the community and in hospitals, are included in a new booklet, A Guide For People With Multiple Sclerosis And Their Carers On The Multi-professional Team. Contact MS Ireland at 01-2694599 for a free copy. The organisation's helpline, on 1850-233233, operates from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday to Friday.

"Meditation has become the need of the hour," according to Dr Samprasad Vinod, a yoga and meditation teacher and author from Poona, India. Vinod is the originator of a form of meditation carried out in a lying-down position, known as shavasan meditation. He is visiting Ireland next month to give workshops in the North in Omagh, Newcastle and Belfast. He will also be in Dublin, at Marino Institute for Education, from 10.30 a.m. on September 15th. Nuns on the run?:

The Irish Cancer Society is looking for recruits to run or walk in the annual Terry Fox Runs on October 7th. Last year, there were 81 runs throughout Ireland. The money raised goes towards grants for Irish researchers in universities, teaching hospitals and institutes. Call 1850-606060 for details of this year's regional runs.
