If you do one thing this week... Make sure to eat breakfast

Morning time can be busy and all too often it’s easy to overlook breakfast in the tornado of getting yourself, and maybe the kids, out the door on time.

Or perhaps you just grab a snack on the way to work to keep the hunger pangs at bay. But maybe it’s worth making the time to have a sensible breakfast, such as a healthy cereal.

A paper in last month's British Journal of Nursingreviewed several studies of breakfast and body mass in adults and children.

The research suggests there is consistent evidence of a link between eating breakfast cereal and a lower risk of being overweight.

The paper also cautions that people should not solely rely on breakfast cereal as a way of losing weight.

“It is important to follow a healthy, balanced diet along with plenty of exercise,” writes the author. “It does seem, however, that breakfast really is the most important meal of the day.”
