A 17-year-old Kilkenny girl is reported to have died in a swimming pool incident in Spain at the weekend. The Department of Foreign Affairs has said it is preparing to assist her family.
The teenager from Assumption Place in Kilkenny city was named locally as Nikita Woods, and was on holiday in Spain with her mother and grandmother.
It is understood her body was found in a swimming pool on Friday.
Locals said she had just received her Leaving Certificate results and was planning to study nursing.

It is understood that her mother and grandmother were in contact with other family members in Kilkenny over the weekend, and arrangements were being made to bring her body home.
