Gateway to cut up to 200 jobs in Dublin

Gateway Computers this morning confirmed it is to cut up to 200 jobs from its Dublin workforce.

The announcement follows the decision by the company in January to cut 28 jobs from its permanent staff. Gateway, which employs 1,250 people in north Dublin, also decided in January not to renew contracts for 104 temporary staff.

Gateway has its Europe, Middle East and Asia (EMEA) headquarters in Clonshaugh.

The decision to cut 200 EMEA jobs is part of a rationalisation plan to reduce Gateway’s global workforce by 10 per cent following a profits warning on January 12th.

In a statement Gateway said: "We are downsizing the organisation in line with the revised business plan. We can confirm that approximately 200 people are affected throughout EMEA."

The company said the exact number of redundancies has yet to be established.
