GARDAÍ AND fire inspectors are investigating the cause of a blaze that has destroyed a number of cars at an address in Sandymount, south Dublin.

The fire broke out in a garage housing a number of vehicles, including three BMWs, at the property on Sydney Parade Avenue in Dublin, at about 8.30pm on Wednesday. The fire destroyed the garage and a number of cars that were parked in it at the time.

The scene was sealed off by gardaí and underwent a full examination throughout yesterday by Garda crime scene investigators.

While the cause of the fire has not been confirmed, informed sources said it appeared foul play was not a factor and that a gas explosion or gas fire may have been the cause.
