A rare concert in these parts, the pairing of husband and wife Martin Carthy and Norma Waterson (left) is an inspired commercial and artistic conceit. Playing as part of Donegal's Earagail Arts Festival, the duo is regarded by critics and public alike as the King and Queen of Brit Folk (although you can imagine both of them chuckling at this description). Carthy is a fine singer and interpreter and easily one of the most influential and imitated guitar players. Waterson is undoubtedly one of the finest English singers alive. Together, they represent a living picture of a music that is more pertinent than many people imagine. They perform at the Letterkenny Arts Centre next Friday.
