Hundreds of screaming teenage girls turned out this afternoon at HMV in Dundrum Town Centre in south Dublin for Jedward who were signing copies of their debut single Under Pressure (Ice Ice Baby).

The original version, which samples Queen's Under Pressure, was released in 1990, two years before the twins were born.

Fans queued from 9.30pm last night to meet John and Edward Grimes who are on course to be more popular than X-Factor winner Joe McElderry though they were voted off the show two months ago.

More than 400 wristbands to see the twins were gone by 4am this morning with many of their fans staying all night to be sure of their place in the queue.

Those who arrived this morning were disappointed and the music store had to be locked down to keep fans who were without tickets outside.

Their single has gone straight to number 2 in the Irish charts though it was only released in a physical form today.

Fans who downloaded the single this week sang along to every word as they waited for the twins to begin their signing session.

There was a deafening cacophony of screams when the pair emerged on a balcony over the crowd which had been held back behind crash barriers.

Earlier, Jedward signed hundreds of copies of the single for those who had turned up but did not get wristbands.

Fans Naomi Gobbett-Collins (15) and Sophie Butler (14) were 271st and 272nd in the queue at 3.30am this morning.

They picked up their wrist bands, went home and did their mock Junior Certificate science exams this morning.

“We thought we were too late when we got here,” said Sophie who admitted she was “pretty tired” and had not done a great exam.

“I wouldn’t swap these wristbands for a million euro.”

Sarah Swan (17) from Ballymun was first in the queue along with three other friends who go to every public engagement that the twins turn up to.

“They are very level-headed guys. They are always very nice to their fans,” she said.

Jedward have also announced a nationwide tour beginning in Castlebar on Tuesday, April 6th and taking in Galway, Limerick, Waterford, Killarney, Cork and two dates in Dublin at The Helix and Vicar Street.

They promised they would get to meet all the fans who missed out on their signings when they do the nationwide tour.

“All the singles we are signing today are for those fans who did not get a (wrist) band. We’re just so happy to be here,” said John.

“We are going to see everybody. We’re going to do meet-and-greet when we do our own tour. We don’t want our fans to be disappointed,” his brother replied.
