Appeal over wanted Dutch man

Gardaí have appealed to the public for help in locating a Dutch man wanted for a 1999 murder in Belgium.

Morgan Schreurs (39) is wanted by police in connection with the murder of a woman in Zaventem, Brussels, in November 1999 and is the subject of a European arrest warrant.

The suspect - who speaks Dutch, German, English and French - is about 6ft tall with a scar over his left eye.

Mr Schreurs has been targeted as part of Interpol’s Infra-Red 2012 operation, an international joint police operation targeting high-profile criminals.

Gardaí had previously investigated Mr Schreurs - with extensive inquiries in Dublin in 2002 - after they received intelligence he was working in pubs in the city centre.

It was also believed he was working part-time as a DJ using the stage name DJ Morgandroid, a name he had also used when living in the southern German city of Munich in 1999.

In 2004, the Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation was unable to substantiate claims that Mr Schreurs had used a Visa credit card belonging to an Irish person while in Munich.

Interpol has highlighted 25 targets as part of the Infra-Red 2012 from a list of over 500 targets that have been collected from 57 countries in six continents.

There are no Irish suspects on the list.
