Anglo Irish Bank has appointed three new non-executive directors to its board.

Anglo Irish Bank has appointed three new non-executive directors to its board.

Chairman of Teagasc Dr Noel Cawley, Elan director Gary Kennedy and managing partner of Eames Solicitors, Aidan Eames are to take up positions on the board, the bank said today.

Dr Cawley is also a director of Bord Bia and One51, and was previously chief executive of the Irish Dairy Board and chairman of the Irish Horse Board.

Formerly group director of finance and enterprise technology at Allied Irish Banks Mr Kennedy is a director of Greencore, Friends First General Insurance Company Limited and Travelport, in addition to a number of private companies. He was previously group vice president at Nortel Networks Europe and has also served on the board of the Industrial Development Authority of Ireland.

Mr Eames sits on the board of Bord Gáis Éireann and is chairman of their risk committee.He acts as an advisor to commercial and technology companies.

Incoming chairman of the bank Alan Dukes welcomed the appointments."We are confident they will make a significant contribution as we continue our efforts to stabilise and de-risk the bank," he said.
