Aer Rianta extends airport discount scheme

Aer Rianta has announced it is to extend its discount charges scheme to all airlines flying into State airports.

An Aer Rianta spokesman said the scheme, already in place in Shannon and Cork airports, would now be applied to Dublin Airport.

Under the discount system, airlines starting new services to and from Dublin will not have to pay Aer Rianta any handling charges for three years.

Shannon and Cork have no charges for all new routes for a period of three years from commencement. This will now be extended to four years.

Aer Rianta had also undertaken to provide considerable marketing support to promote new routes, the spokesman said.

Speaking in the Dáil today, Minister for Public Enterprise Mrs O’Rourke said this step was being taken under her instructions as an incentive to boost tourism.
