TOURISM QUEENSLAND has announced a successor to its Best Job in the World campaign which ran two years ago and garnered the equivalent of €250 million in publicity for an outlay of just €2.5 million.

The prize was a six-month job as the caretaker of Hamilton Island, one of the most beautiful parts of the state. Meathman George Karellas was shortlisted for the prize which was won by Briton Ben Southall (34).

Now it’s launching Million Dollar Memo, inviting thousands of companies to compete for the prize of sending their entire staff on a trip to Queensland, worth AUD$1 million (€700,000),

“It doesn’t matter if you work for a global sporting company, a software giant or a small-town bakery, if you have 3,000 employees or only three – the Million Dollar Memo is open to companies and workplaces around the world,” says Tourism Queenslands international director, UK, Ireland Nordic regions, Jane Nicholson.

“We’ve sent the Million Dollar Memo to thousands of companies and workplaces worldwide, including the UK and Ireland. To be in the running, entrants need to create an entertaining 60 second video that shows what makes their company great and why they think Queensland is the ultimate reward destination. Video entries can be submitted at milliondollarmemo.com.

A final shortlist of 20 applicants will then need to nominate one of their colleagues to travel to Queensland to take part in a series of incentive-based challenges to determine the overall winner. The winners will be announced on August 31st.
