FOR THOSE who feel like a private autumn or winter getaway, Inis Meáin Restaurant and Suites has just launched “Inspiration Weeks” in its suite apartment on the island.

The building, which was designed by de Blacam Meagher Architects, has an apartment with 130sq m (1,400sq ft) of space offering panoramic views over the island, Galway Bay and Connemara. It has a living area with spacious kitchen, sitting room, library (with high speed broadband) and a wood-burning stove. The en suite bedroom is separate.

It can be rented on a weekly self-catering basis in the closed season from mid October to mid March and comes with a fridge stocked full of delicious dinners made by the restaurant chef and owner, Ruairi de Blacam, along with a box of locally grown potatoes and vegetables. Suitable for one or two guests, the price is €1,000 for the weekly rental including the use of bicycles and fishing rods.
